A reprieve of at least one week has been granted to the Tucson Citizen, which was expected to publish its final paper on Saturday.
The paper, owned by Gannett Corp, said late Friday that it will publish at least through March 27.
Here's a snippet from the story published in the Citizen:
You have to wonder what THAT was like.
Imagine you're at that newspaper. You're in the process of putting to bed what you've been told is the last edition of your newspaper, fully expecting to be unemployed in a matter of hours, and then the suits drop this on you — never mind, keep up the good work for at least another week.
Talk about an emotional roller coaster.

The notice was given through a memo from Mike Jameson, president and chief executive of Tucson Newspapers, as required by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
WARN requires employers to give 60 days' advance notice to employees in the case of mass layoffs or plant closures.
"The sale or closure will not occur before March 27, 2009," the memo read. "We expect to have more certainty in the very short term, and when we do we will let you know."
