Future of Journalism: San Diego
One of the most exciting ventures in Southern California is the Voice of San Diego, a non-profit daily news organization that looks a lot like an online newspaper (see previous post for more info).
Staffed by professional journalists, the site has become such a force in San Diego it's being tapped by television news programs to provide analysis of local news, as evidenced in the clip above, during which the recent sale of The San Diego Union-Tribune was discussed.
If you haven't checked out the Voice of San Diego Web site, it's well worth your time to do so. As we talk about newspapers dying, ventures like this present possible solutions, a way for new online newspapers (for lack of a better term) to rise from the ashes and help to fill the void.
Also check out the In Denver Times, which was launched by former staffers of the Rocky Mountain News.
